Check your tires and don't drive tired

" If you're driving tired… you're driving impaired."

medium_2006_05_06_mainsquare_09.2.jpgAn organization has recently been created in Canada to reinforce the importance of a good night's sleep before taking the wheel.

Fatigue (lack of sleep) will affect your ability to drive just as much as alcohol will. The website of the organization (www.fatigueimpairment.ca) writes: "The potential dangers associated with falling asleep behind the wheel are obvious. Yet, many who would never drink and drive think nothing of hitting the road when they're exhausted." 15% of car collisions are actually due to drowsiness while driving.

Among the causes of fatigue, we can find:

  • sleep loss or too little sleep
  • interrupted or fragmented sleep

Sleep can be interrupted by your partner if she/he moves a lot during the night. Sleep is also disturbed by body pressure points or back pains if your bed is too old or inappropriate.

If you are disturbed by your partner's movements, we suggest that you choose a mattress with pocketed springs; all the springs will be independent from each other and you will not feel the other person move. If you're a fan of latex or memory foam, then a thick mattress (over 23 cm) will do the trick.

If you suffer from back ache, choose a mattress with good back care quality (it is mentioned on all of our product pages)

Do not hesitate to contact us on our free number: 0 8000 12 20 20. We will help you choose the most appropriate bed to insure you will get the best sleep.

See you soon!

Sketchup is quite funny

Hi guys,

Thanks to behind the curtains (a good blog on design furniture and homeware) for making me aware of the launch of Google Sketchup. It's a tool that allows you to draw and set up 3D sketches to represent anything you like: a house, a room, etc... quite handy when you're in furniture business...

I only had a quick try out, but it seems quite easy to use and also quite fun! You can even add your dream house in google earth to see it in its real space (although I must admit I didn't try that trick). We'll try it out some more and let you know about it!

See you!

Save on the VAT rate, we pay for the difference

Hello everyone,

We decided to put our actions where our mouth is. We believe that beds should benefit from a reduced VAT rate of 5%.

That's what we're offering you today: the opportunity to invest in new bedding with a reduced VAT tax, and we will pay for the difference.

Back in December, Julien wrote on the blog that you should get a tax rebate when you buy bedding. His thesis was backed up by powerful arguments (see post). If you think about it, sleeping is a basic need like eating and drinking, but beds still get a 17,5% V.A.T. (and food doesn't...) Unfortunately it wasn't sufficient to raise lawmakers' awareness on the issue.

So we've decided to take action and give you a discount equivalent to a VAT rebate to its reduced rate. This discount goes on every product in our catalog. There is no fine print! All of our bedding items benefit from the sale until May 24th, 5p.m.

Browse our catalog and you will see that the discount applies to all products.
