Matelsom F.A.Q.
We have had a lot of questions this week about the brand "Matelsom". I have compiled a little F.A.Q. on this topic in order to inform you better:
What is Matelsom?
Matelsom is the leading online bed retailer in France. It was created in 1995 by Emery Jacquillat. The purpose of the company was to:
- Help the customer gain time. Today's demanding lifestyles give less and less spare time; this precious leisure time is better spent with the family or on a romantic week-end break, than going through the hassles of visiting bed stores. With online retailing, it is now possible to by a bed in 15 minutes.
- Give the best sleep advice by trained advisors, who help the customers choose the best beds for them. The sleep advisors understand that choosing a bed is a case by case basis. Their advice is guaranteed by a 30-night trial period: as a result the advisors are dedicated to the customers' satisfaction and listen to their needs.
- Offer convenience in delivery services and times. Evening delivery is possible in certain areas and can be made Monday through Saturday.
- Offer competitive prices. Sleeping on a good bed shouldn't be a luxury. This should be available to everyone because sleep is a 1st necessity like food.
Bedeezee, Matelsom UK sister's company, was created in 2005 for the same purpose.
What about the quality of Matelsom products?
- The matelsom brand was created to offer quality products at a reasonable price. This brand has contributed to making the best sleeping technology (such as pocketed springs or visco memory foam) available to everyone.
- The Matelsom brand employs local manufacturers. I.e. Matelsom products retailed in France are made in France. Matelsom products retailed in the UK are made in the UK. This ensures that they answer the local population's sleeping needs.
- All Matelsom mattresses and divan bases come with a 5 year warranty and are of course eligible for the 30-night trial period.
Can a Matelsom platform base be used with a mattress of a different brand?
Yes.
- Matelsom bases are carefully manufactured according to demanding criteria. They will provide the necessary support to the mattress you are purchasing.
- Matelsom bases are stocked in many sizes and are often available for next-day delivery. Hence convenience is added to your comfort.
- You will save money by acquiring one of our divan set that include a Matelsom base.
Do not hesitate to contact our team at 08000 12 20 20, or by email at: contact@bedeezee.com
You can also visit Matelsom's website in France: www.matelsom.com

New product page design!
Here is the reason behind my long silence : we've been working a lot to improve our product presentation pages!! And we started using the brand new one yesterday evening
Look at the result on the fatboy beanbag for example, or on the Restmaster adjustable from Rest assured, or simply on a bed from Silentnight.
We think it will make it easier to sort out the colour choice for bed linen, or the storage for beds. It also allows to display more images. We will now have to work on quite a lot of different things: increase the number of images available per product. Make new pictures for the colors... Increase the quality of our product description. Lots of work still.
What I love in this job is it never stops to get better, or at least so I hope :-)
But hey, what do you guys think about the new layout. Is it easy to use? and to understand?
Have a good WE everybody. (We're open tomorrow from 10 to 6 BTW)

Cheaper baby mattresses
Hi everybody,
Good news for all new parents: our prices on baby mattresses have dropped by up to 25% following the new negotiations with babywise and our new carrier.
As a result, our prices are now among the best on the market (I didn't find anybody cheaper than us on the same products anyway). Have you guys seen it cheaper somewhere else?

Disposal in London
Just found a quite original collecter here: only pictures of mattresses dumped in the streets. Some of them pretty disgusting. Yerk!!!
To avoid this, we offer a disposal service for your bed. We can take out of your house and get rid for you in our local dump of the equivalent of what we delivered (a bed for a bed, a mattress for a mattress...) The service costs £15. It's only available within the M25 for the moment but we are going to work on extending the service to mainland UK.
Each time I see one of those in the street, I think of what we could have done... (and it's not the worst one on this picture).

Free delivery on Fatboy's beanbag
Up till now the Fatboy beanbag was £149 + £17.50 for delivery!!
For this week end only (until Monday evening), the Fatboy beanbag will be at £131.50, instead of £149, still + £17.50 for delivery.
The idea is that the product is now £149 including delivery! The delivery charge is indeed offered!!
The Fatboy beanbag is a huge beanbag (140cmx180cm, 4'6"x6') of very high quality. The cover is totally water- and filling-proof. The filling is of the best quality available for beanbags. I can promise this one will not flat out in 3 months. BUt above all, don't you just like the look and the colors (beige, red, camouflage..you name it)!

Fast delivery on bed linen!!
Hi everybody,
We've got good news for you today as our bed linen range is now much quicker to deliver... We now stock a lot more products from our bed linen range in an intermediate warehouse and everything which was available on a 3 weeks lead time will now take a maximum of 5 days to get to you!!! All this with not the single penny increase on your delivery cost!!
This is very good news as it will allow us to be quicker and more reliable on our deliveries. We hope our already quite popular range of sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers will be even more successfull so! Especially as we stock now the odd sizes such as small single and small double!
Please still refer to our website to spot occasionnal shortage of products (if everything was perfect, life wouldn't be as fun, would it?) but they should be the exceptions from now on!
Immediate link to our complete bed linen range here and a few examples below!!
Also check us out soon as we are going to use this new facility to increase our range and get more designs! I'll let you know as soon as this is done!
See you soon and good nights!

Warranties: a little explanation!
Hi everybody,
We had a few questions today about the product warranties we offer.
The first thing to understand is the that the warranty is offered to you by the manufacturer of the bed. It protects you against any misconception in the product, which in the bed industry are quite rare (less than 1% as a whole for us). Misconceptions can be a pring that pops out of its place, the quilting that unstiches a lot... The waranty will not cover usual wear and tear.
As retailers we do not decide if the claim is accepted or rejected. We only help you out with filing the complaint (actually we do it on your behalf).
5 years is the usual length for a bed/mattress warranty. We're often asked: as a bed is supposed to last ten years, why is it the warranty only lasting half of the period?
Well, that's coming from 3 different reasons. First, 85% of the claims are made in the first 6 months of the product's lifetime. Indeed, if it's ill manufactured, you will feel it very quickly! Secondly, after 5 years, it's usually not the product that's in question if something goes wrong: it is due to some misuse (kids using the bed as a trampoline for example is a classic :-). Thirdly, the manufacturers try to give the same warranty to all their products and frankly you can't expect a £100 mattress to have the same lifetime as a £500 one!! So they stick to 5.
Today:
- Matelsom is offering a 5 year warranty on all its mattresses (except the music 2 years only)
- Pocket spring bed company offer a 5 year guarantee (though we only sell the products on the phone right now)
- Northern feather (quilts and pillows) even offers a lifetime guarantee on the Siberian white goose down quilt!!! (Totally down proof, very nice finish) This makes the price point quite understandable!!
So what's the difference between a guarantee and a warranty? A guarantee means the product will be gratuitously exchanged (no fee or cost to you for the product). In the case of a warranty, you will be asked a growing percentage of the cost of the product as time goes (1st year free exchange, 2nd: 20% of the cost, 3rd: 40%, 4th:60%, 5th:80%).
There's one more thing we need to talk about! One common claim that is rejected is for settlement of the fillings: this is normal and should be expected. Fillings are made to make you feel comfortable. As such they're not as resistant as the spring or foam unit in the mattress. They will keep their shape quite some time, but after a while they adapt to the weight of the body! This is even more true with natural fillings that are more comfortable but also a little bit more fragile. (that's why today, manufacturers tend to mix them up with synthetic material to avoid that).
So one last question you might ask yourself: what does Bedeezee bring you as a service for your bed warranties?
Well, we take care of everything in terms of filing but also fo delivery. We will come and pick up the faulty piece and deliver the new one for free!!! Much better than having to put it onto the roof of your car to bring it down to the shop, don't you think?
Especially in that cold weather out there!
See you soon @ Bedeezee for all your bed and bedding needs!!

Our trial period
As I've told you in the previous post, our most original service probably is the 30 nights trial period. So how does it work.
First of all, this 30 days trial period is valid for mattresses & divans. Those are the products you could have a comfort problem with. As soon as we have delivered a new bed, you can start using it. Take out the packaging (but keep them until you're sure of your choice). Put it together and start sleeping...ZZZ... If at any point within those 30 days, you feel that the bed doesn't actually match your expectancies, send us a written warning (email or letter). We will then organise a delivery team to pick up your product(s) (all we ask on your side is that you pack the products back into their original plastic bags). The pick up will cost you a mere £30 and will avoid you sleeping on a unadequate mattress/divan for the next 10 years!!!
We can offer a refund or an exchange. In the later case, we would leave you the first bed until we deliver the new one so that you're never without a sleeping unit. If the second bed is cheaper than the first one, then we would refund the difference and if it's more expensive, you will just have to pay the difference. Of course, taking into account the £30 for the pick up. And guess what, the second bed also has a 30 days trial period!!!
In the end, we offer this guarantee because we believe nobody should be stranded with its bed for 10 years if they don't like it and we know that testing a bed doesn't take 5 minutes in a shop, with all your clothes on and with the seller watching you and talking to you. The extra length of the guarantee ensures that you have all the time you need to adapt yourself from your old bed to your new one before deciding (not always easy to change when you've been using the same bed for ten years or more).
See you soon and have a good big sleep.
