Bedding reloaded
A woman has put a bed for sale on ebay and claims that the bed once belonged to Keanu Reeves' ex-girlfriend and that he would have slept on it regularly.
Is it true that Keanu's spring years of love were spent on this bed? Or is it a marketing strategy?
Make up your mind by reading the article.
This reminds me of one question we often get from customers: "with the 30-night trial period, what do you do with the beds that are returned"?
- First of all, let me tell that we do not resell them on the website.
- Right now we do stock them in our warehouse (there aren't that many of them). We might resell them as used on Ebay, but it's just an idea.
So the bed that you will be getting from us is brand new and in its original packaging. There is no chance that Hugh Grant, or Emma Thompson or Keanu Reeves spent a night on it, sorry :)

Trouble sleeping? Have an energy drink!
Hello everyone!
I want to share a rather interesting story, that tells about an unexpected way to get some sleep: having an energy drink.
Researchers at the sleep research center of the University of Loughborough tested the impact of energy drinks. All the subjetcs had little sleep the night before (5 hours).
Half of them drank the energy beverage that contains sugar and caffeine for the most part. The other half drank a beverage with the same taste, but not energetic at all. All the subjects were then asked to do repetitive tasks.
Believe it or not, there was no difference in the first 30 minutes between the two groups: they had the same ability to stay awake and concentrate. After 50 minutes, the subjects who had taken the energy drink started dozing off and performed poorly !!!!
Have a good day and see you soon on bedeezee.co.uk

Made-to-Peter-Crouch-measure
No, you aren't done hearing about the World Cup!
Now that it is well past us, let me share an insider's tip on how the boys were kept in shape during the tournament.
We strongly believe that being in shape starts with waking up after a good night's sleep, and obviously, it was something that the team thought about.
The hotel supplied the players (and other team members) with 60 brand new king size beds. Why is that?
- Brand new beds provide better sleep quality than old ones, as it gives better back support. So you will get sounder sleep in a new bed even if the amount of hours spent sleeping remains the same.
- Big is comfortable. The bigger the width of your bed, the better sleep you'll get, as you won't get distrubed by the movements of your partner throughout the night.
Now, here is a problem:even though the bed were king-size, what were we going to do with Peter Crouch's legs? Silentnight took the matter at heart and offered to make a made to measure bed. Despite their efforts, Peter's feet were still hanging out the bed... Let's hope he's got the right bed now, so that his feet can get a rest and be ready in 4 years!

More than a 3rd of your life in bed?!
Hello everybody,
The traditional belief was that people spent an average 1/3 of their lives in bed, as they sleep 8 hours within a 24-hour-period. But new research shows that Britons actually spend even more time on their beds, as they engage in non-sleep activity.
I can see a little twinkle in your eyes, as you cannot wait for me to tell what the number 1 non-sleepactivity in a bed is...
Sorry to disappoint you, sex is only the 2nd favourite British non-sleep activity. It comes right after...
THINKING!
(the research was definitely not conducted in France! :) )
The other activities include:
- Making conversation
- Listening to music
- Watching Tv or film
- Working
If you are one of these people who do more than sleeping in bed, we recommend that you invest in an adjustable (electrical bed). They can move to a sitting position, where you can read, watch TV, etc, without hurting your back.

Lack of sleep impacts efficiency
Hello everyone, I hope that you have had a good week-end.
I would like to draw your attention to an a article published in the magazine "The Hindu" (click here for the full story)
Most people today ignore the the fact that they are tired. They put too little attention to their sleep, often focusing on other areas of their lives, and putting sleep as after all their other priorities. When facing with the following decision:
- I am tired but Matrix 2 is on TV...
what do you do?
Let's see another situation: when you set up your alarm clock...
- I could really do with 8 hours of sleep, but I should get up at 6 if I want to do all I should be doing for work.
Do you see what I mean? There is always something that seems more important than sleeping. Until you reach a point that you are so tired you can't do anything anymore. "Ignore sleep problems and you only get diminishing returns," says the article.
It can even be dangerous if you are a driver: "Sleepy driving is emerging as a big problem in the UK, so we now have lots of signboards that read `Tiredness kills - Take a break'," says Dr. Singh, who also teaches at Imperial College, London (excerpt from article).
Your mattress plays an important part in your sleep
Getting a new mattress will drastically improve your sleep. It will impact on the way your back rests and will decrease the number of time your body moves during the night.
A bad or an old mattress (more than 8 year old) is usually unable to support your body the way it should. As a result, your back hurts while you sleep (and prevents your body from getting the right sleep).
After a while, the fillings on top of the mattress tend to flatten as a result, you get pressure points. If you have too many pressure points, your body will turn over too many times throughout the night, and this will disturb your sleep.
Visit the DR SLEEP section of our website (bedeezee.co.uk) to make your choice, or call one of our sleep advisors at 08000 12 20 20.
Have a good week,

Dream Bed
Before we leave for the week end, I would like to show you the picture of a bed that had me dreaming:
![]()
This "floating bed" has been designed by a Dutch architect (Janjaap Ruijssenaars). How does it float in the air? Thanks to magnets! 6 years were required todesign this magnetic bed.
Its price is 1.5 million dollars It's 288 times the price of our largest and most comfortable mattress (the SEALY NATURAL LATEX 100 ADJUSTABLE BED in Super King size)... and yes, I took into account the currency exchange :)
Anyway, if you don't have that one and a half million handy, we have a back up plan if you want to feel like floating:
the Matelsom Visco response 1500
- Its layer of memory foam will make you feel like you're almost not touching the mattress
- Its sale price at 40% off will make your spirits feel light!
On that note, happy visit on bedeezee.co.uk and have a good week end.

How to take care of your duvet?
Some articles published recently on the BBC News website and in the newspaper Metro have worried me a little bit. They state that Britons do not take care of their duvets as they should (See Britons sleep in dirty duvets)
The most hideous fact was that they found a duvet that had NOT BEEN WASHED FOR 11 YEARS ! Urgh. They found in it skin scales and dust mite feaces... no comment. The consequences for the health can be really dramatic: asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, eczema...
Anyway, if you have just bought a duvet from us, you are far from that stage. To prevent you from getting there, here are a few tips:
- The duvet must be shaken at least once a week
- It must be protected by a duvet cover that you wash at least once a month
- The duvet must be washed every 3 months at least. The best way to go about this is to just leave it to the professionals: dry cleaners are well equiped to take care of your duvet. However, if you want to do it in your washing machine, it must be able to support a load of 24kg. If you must force your duvet to get into the machine, do not insist, because it needs space to move around. Make sure that there is no tear in the duvet, otherwise it will get wider and the duvet will get damaged. Make sure you dry it for a very long time: it must not be moist when you put it back on the bed.

Why you should make sure you're sleeping soundly...
Hello everyone,
I hope that you had a good week-end and that you've done all the late sleep-ins and relaxing you need to be energized for this new work week.
Here is a couple of funnies to bring some amusement on this Monday.
- The firstone is a story that was published by DailyRecord.co.uk It states that "ONE million Brits have revealed a secret affair to their partners by calling out the name of a lover in their sleep". Can you believe it? What a terrible way to get caught! Of course, I am sure that you do not share these morals, but just in case you would like a deep and sound night sleep to avoid sleep-talking ;) I suggest that you go for one of the high-end mattresses. Visco fillings or pillow top, on pocket springs should keep you well asleep. (and your partner too, so no risk of accidental listening!)
The recommended bed: REST ASSURED FIJI DIVAN SET, King size available at a reduced price during our summer sale. Click here for more details.
- Along the same line, news has reached us that a couple in India "is being forced to split up after the husband uttered the word talaq, the Arabic word for divorce, three times in his sleep. According to Muslim law, the "triple talaq" is an actual divorce." Now are we sure he was actually sleep-talking? Sounds like an easy-way-out to me!! :)
Hope you all have a good week!

there is no 9 to 5 in nature
The sleep revolution is marching on! Citizens of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, unite behind the flag of the National Siesta Day!
At last, serious scientific research, put forward in mainstream media (BBC News magazine) by an accredited journalist (Sean Coughlan) backs up what I have always believed: we need our daily naps! :)
You can check the article at this link. It has got some hilarious legends with the pictures.
In a nutshell, here is what the article says:
- Sleep helps people perform.
- We are designed to have two sleeps a day.
The very interesting point is that napping (and sleeping in general) is associated with laziness, heavy meals and bad health. Who hasn't thought one day: "if only I didn't sleep, I could achieve so much"? Sleep sometimes feel like a waste of time, because it eats out the precious little time that we have to conduct our lives.
But what is the truth about sleep?
- People who achieve loads take the time to sleep.
People who had a good night's sleep during the day can stay focus. They make less mistakes and are less likely to have accidents. Moreover, a lack of sleep brings a person's mood down, hence her/his motivation is low.
- There is nothing mediterranean about the siesta.
According to the article, before the Industrial Revolution and fixed hours, it was very normal in Northern Europe to have an afternoon sleep. Therefore it is a productivity mistake made by the first industrial employers that sleep will lower the production. Da Vinci, Napoleon and Wiston Churchill are known to have napped during their days.
The afternoon nap should not be longer than 15 minutes (otherwise, we fall into a sleep cycle and it's hard to get back to work)... Therfore, it is still at night that the majority of the sleep is being done. Here is what we recommend for a good nights sleep:
- Sleep at regular hours (going to bed and waking up)
- Eat healthy at dinner
- Make sure your mattress will give you a good night: high end mattresses are a smart investment, because they last much longer and are designed to keep your body in a better position.
Contact us at 08000 12 20 20 (free phone) or visit http://www.bedeezee.co.uk for more information.
On that note, I am sure that my boss will let me have a nap now :)
