Check your tires and don't drive tired

" If you're driving tired… you're driving impaired."

medium_2006_05_06_mainsquare_09.2.jpgAn organization has recently been created in Canada to reinforce the importance of a good night's sleep before taking the wheel.

Fatigue (lack of sleep) will affect your ability to drive just as much as alcohol will. The website of the organization (www.fatigueimpairment.ca) writes: "The potential dangers associated with falling asleep behind the wheel are obvious. Yet, many who would never drink and drive think nothing of hitting the road when they're exhausted." 15% of car collisions are actually due to drowsiness while driving.

Among the causes of fatigue, we can find:

  • sleep loss or too little sleep
  • interrupted or fragmented sleep

Sleep can be interrupted by your partner if she/he moves a lot during the night. Sleep is also disturbed by body pressure points or back pains if your bed is too old or inappropriate.

If you are disturbed by your partner's movements, we suggest that you choose a mattress with pocketed springs; all the springs will be independent from each other and you will not feel the other person move. If you're a fan of latex or memory foam, then a thick mattress (over 23 cm) will do the trick.

If you suffer from back ache, choose a mattress with good back care quality (it is mentioned on all of our product pages)

Do not hesitate to contact us on our free number: 0 8000 12 20 20. We will help you choose the most appropriate bed to insure you will get the best sleep.

You can also visit our website: www.bedeezee.com

See you soon!

Sketchup is quite funny

Hi guys,

Thanks to behind the curtains (a good blog on design furniture and homeware) for making me aware of the launch of Google Sketchup. It's a tool that allows you to draw and set up 3D sketches to represent anything you like: a house, a room, etc... quite handy when you're in furniture business...

I only had a quick try out, but it seems quite easy to use and also quite fun! You can even add your dream house in google earth to see it in its real space (although I must admit I didn't try that trick). We'll try it out some more and let you know about it!

See you!

Save on the VAT rate, we pay for the difference

Hello everyone,

We decided to put our actions where our mouth is. We believe that beds should benefit from a reduced VAT rate of 5%.

That's what we're offering you today: the opportunity to invest in new bedding with a reduced VAT tax, and we will pay for the difference.

Back in December, Julien wrote on the blog that you should get a tax rebate when you buy bedding. His thesis was backed up by powerful arguments (see post). If you think about it, sleeping is a basic need like eating and drinking, but beds still get a 17,5% V.A.T. (and food doesn't...) Unfortunately it wasn't sufficient to raise lawmakers' awareness on the issue.

So we've decided to take action and give you a discount equivalent to a VAT rebate to its reduced rate. This discount goes on every product in our catalog. There is no fine print! All of our bedding items benefit from the sale until May 24th, 5p.m.

Browse our catalog and you will see that the discount applies to all products.

Other things you can do with your pillow !

As the week end starts, I would like you to discover something fun.

You may have heard of "flash mobbing": A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, and then quickly disperse. They are usually organized with the help of the Internet or other digital communications networks.

Some groups of people have organized "Pillow fights flash mobs". They organize themselves in groups called "Pillows fight clubs".

Here are the rules of Pillow Fight Club:

  1. You do tell everyone about PillowFight Club.
  2. You do tell everyone about PillowFight Club.
  3. If someone whines or has no pillow, you cannot hit them.
  4. Everyone joins in the fight.
  5. The one fight starts at the designated time - No earlier.
  6. No tar, no heavy things in pillows.
  7. PillowFights will go on until they're done.
  8. If this is your first night at PillowFight Club, you have to get feathered.

Pillow fights events have happened in London, San Francisco, New York, Melbourne, etc. Visit the Laughing Squid blog to see more pictures.

Have a good week end!!

Springs in a pocket, savings in a bucket

15% off pocket spring mattresses until next Wednesday, noon

In order to help you get the best nights’ sleep, Bedeezee offers you the opportunity to get the best spring quality available at a 15% off discount.

medium_int_pocket.2.gifWhat is a pocket spring unit?

It is a unit where each spring is in its textile pocket and it acts on its own. Therefore, if a spring is being pushed, it does not effect the other springs around it.

What are the advantages of pocket springs?
  • Total sleepers independence. If your partner moves during the night, you will not feel it and you won’t be disturbed in your sleep.
  • Excellent back support. The pockets springs are able to respond independently to the weights of the different parts of your body. Therefore, your spine remains straight during sleep. You wake up in shape and energetic.

Improve your bedroom with Feng shui

Hi everybody,

For researcfh purposes, I was last week researching and reading about Feng Shui.

For those that never heard of it, Feng Shui is the art of placing objects and furniture in a house or a room in a way that enhances your life. It's linked to chinese philosophy and as been around for quite some time over there (at least 3000 years).

To cut a long story short, "feng" means wind and "shui" means water. So the main idea is that ideas, feelings, etc... should flow and blow in your house. You should leave no obstacles. This will increase your efficiency and make you therefore happier.

Although you might not stick to the philosophy, "many people, on discovering feng shui, recognise things that they always knew deep down to be true. Many successful people practise some form of feng shui without realising it. " (feng shui society)

Feng shui learns us to organise our room in various aspects. (Just map your room as indicated on the left, with the entrance door on the bottom of the map). Each part of the room has a role and should stik to it, helping us organize ourselves. This might be the hard part to follow (too much effort and not enough belief for example:-)

Here are a few hints for the bedroom, that will help you reshape the way you use it and maybe improve your sleep. It worked for some!!

  • Place your bedroom as far as possible from the front door in your flat/house.
  • Make your room a shape as simple as possible (no dead space, no angles: a plain square or rectangle is ideal)
  • Try not to put your bed in front of the bedroom door, nor with the head in the direction of the bathroom)
  • Make sure the bed is stable and add a headboard to feel extra protection while you sleep.
  • Let space under your bed (to let the wind and water flow around it): this is not very much in favour of storage but hey...
  • Do not store books or other things above your head
  • Do not store your sports item in your room: they bring the idea of effort, not relaxation

Then you also have a few basic rules of life that will help you:

  • Do not exercise in your bedroom (same reason as above)
  • In the morning when you leave, make your bed and tidy up your room. This will increase the quality of your sleep when you come back but above all, will leave you the impression during the day that everything has been taken care of!

There is more to learn here on feng shui in the bedroom here and here.

And maybe some of you know of some good books to advise us?

I wish you good nights to come. :-)

Julien
