Let's get a tax credit for our beds!!

7p a night!! That's what we're spending in the UK on average for our sleep according to a new review made by Silentnight!!

The maths are simple:

Hypotheses

  • The average spent on a bed in the UK is £269 (5% less than 5 years ago)
  • People keep their bed 12 years on average

Results

£269/ (12x365) = £0.061, it is 365 days over 12 years. Even if you consider you're not sleeping on your bed when you're away 65 days a year (that's a lot of holidays or a very traveling job), you still end up with 7.4p a night!!!

When I think at everything I spend that's worth over 7p per day, I'm quite amazed!!!

I pay more for my council tax than to sleep!! (My bed is paid by my landlord and I didn't manage to have him change for a £600 mattress, still just 16p a night!).

This gives me an idea: we should ask for a tax credit for the value of our beds!

When we buy a new bed, a lot of studies shows that we increase our sleeptime by up to 53mn! Not by increasing our sleeping time but simply because we don't wake up so much and we rest better.

When we sleep well, we work better. (Whoever says he works welll when yawning all day and can actually prove it can send his CV to jobs@bedeezee.com). When we work well, we generate more sales/results, and we generate more tax for the state through company tax and income tax! First reason to get a credit!

When we sleep well, we're also less sick and more resistant. Also, we will get less back problems. This will come out as a substantial saving for NHS. Another reason to get a tax break!

I'm just starting here. I must think at a way to advertise this!!! :-)))

7p a night! 10% of the can of coke I drank today...

60p/2mn of thirst         25p/7-8h of sleep

Wish you all good nights to come!!
