Warranties: a little explanation!
Hi everybody,
We had a few questions today about the product warranties we offer.
The first thing to understand is the that the warranty is offered to you by the manufacturer of the bed. It protects you against any misconception in the product, which in the bed industry are quite rare (less than 1% as a whole for us). Misconceptions can be a pring that pops out of its place, the quilting that unstiches a lot... The waranty will not cover usual wear and tear.
As retailers we do not decide if the claim is accepted or rejected. We only help you out with filing the complaint (actually we do it on your behalf).
5 years is the usual length for a bed/mattress warranty. We're often asked: as a bed is supposed to last ten years, why is it the warranty only lasting half of the period?
Well, that's coming from 3 different reasons. First, 85% of the claims are made in the first 6 months of the product's lifetime. Indeed, if it's ill manufactured, you will feel it very quickly! Secondly, after 5 years, it's usually not the product that's in question if something goes wrong: it is due to some misuse (kids using the bed as a trampoline for example is a classic :-). Thirdly, the manufacturers try to give the same warranty to all their products and frankly you can't expect a £100 mattress to have the same lifetime as a £500 one!! So they stick to 5.
Today:
- Matelsom is offering a 5 year warranty on all its mattresses (except the music 2 years only)
- Pocket spring bed company offer a 5 year guarantee (though we only sell the products on the phone right now)
- Northern feather (quilts and pillows) even offers a lifetime guarantee on the Siberian white goose down quilt!!! (Totally down proof, very nice finish) This makes the price point quite understandable!!
So what's the difference between a guarantee and a warranty? A guarantee means the product will be gratuitously exchanged (no fee or cost to you for the product). In the case of a warranty, you will be asked a growing percentage of the cost of the product as time goes (1st year free exchange, 2nd: 20% of the cost, 3rd: 40%, 4th:60%, 5th:80%).
There's one more thing we need to talk about! One common claim that is rejected is for settlement of the fillings: this is normal and should be expected. Fillings are made to make you feel comfortable. As such they're not as resistant as the spring or foam unit in the mattress. They will keep their shape quite some time, but after a while they adapt to the weight of the body! This is even more true with natural fillings that are more comfortable but also a little bit more fragile. (that's why today, manufacturers tend to mix them up with synthetic material to avoid that).
So one last question you might ask yourself: what does Bedeezee bring you as a service for your bed warranties?
Well, we take care of everything in terms of filing but also fo delivery. We will come and pick up the faulty piece and deliver the new one for free!!! Much better than having to put it onto the roof of your car to bring it down to the shop, don't you think?
Especially in that cold weather out there!
See you soon @ Bedeezee for all your bed and bedding needs!!

Our trial period
As I've told you in the previous post, our most original service probably is the 30 nights trial period. So how does it work.
First of all, this 30 days trial period is valid for mattresses & divans. Those are the products you could have a comfort problem with. As soon as we have delivered a new bed, you can start using it. Take out the packaging (but keep them until you're sure of your choice). Put it together and start sleeping...ZZZ... If at any point within those 30 days, you feel that the bed doesn't actually match your expectancies, send us a written warning (email or letter). We will then organise a delivery team to pick up your product(s) (all we ask on your side is that you pack the products back into their original plastic bags). The pick up will cost you a mere £30 and will avoid you sleeping on a unadequate mattress/divan for the next 10 years!!!
We can offer a refund or an exchange. In the later case, we would leave you the first bed until we deliver the new one so that you're never without a sleeping unit. If the second bed is cheaper than the first one, then we would refund the difference and if it's more expensive, you will just have to pay the difference. Of course, taking into account the £30 for the pick up. And guess what, the second bed also has a 30 days trial period!!!
In the end, we offer this guarantee because we believe nobody should be stranded with its bed for 10 years if they don't like it and we know that testing a bed doesn't take 5 minutes in a shop, with all your clothes on and with the seller watching you and talking to you. The extra length of the guarantee ensures that you have all the time you need to adapt yourself from your old bed to your new one before deciding (not always easy to change when you've been using the same bed for ten years or more).
See you soon and have a good big sleep.
